Meaning of the World Cup for a country like South Africa

World Cup is more than a championship. It is the most follow sport event. Is popular than Olympic Games and Super Bowl.

For the host country means an opening to world, because in one month million of people arrive to the country and hotels, restaurants, flies and others kind of places are full.

For South Africa this event is important to the history and for the vision that world has on it. The president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, ensured that the investments realized about the World Cup will mean remarkable changes in immediate future.

According Zuma, the World Cup has been an exciting moment for the country and showed to the world that South Africa can compete with the best, because many people that expected high levels of criminality, unfinished stadiums, hotels without vacancies, etc. Now South Africa showed to the world that they are capacity to do that and may be the happiness that they feel in this moment can help them to resolve many problems that they have.

I think this event allowed to South Africa to improve the infrastructure, because with the reason of the World Cup, were built stadiums, roads, hotels, etc. and they had to improve public transport and electrical services.
Besides when being focused the world in an alone country arise important projects like "A goal: education for all", in where play with the double meaning that has the word “goal” in English. The project is handled by famous players in order to give education to 72 million boys who don’t go to the school.

South African trade had his gains; unfortunately I can’t omit social problems like delinquency, prostitution, traffic of people, etc. which with the arrival of so many people to the country the risk to occur is main. In addition to this South Africa is a country where 70 percent of the population lives in poverty, doesn’t have work, doesn’t have water, homeless and 5 millions AIDS patients, for that the help of powerful people is essential in order to help to solve and find alternatives to poverty and hunger.

In the other hand that a national soccer team wins the World Cup means an increasing improvement in soccer teams of this country, because the transfer of players will generate money to local clubs.

The influence of soccer in the economy of a nation is more difficult to prove, however some economists are agree in that it strengthens the confidence of the consumers and this feeling helps to people to purchase products of durable consumption, in which purchase had doubts.
