COMMUNITY WORK

UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY WORK:
moral obligation or requirement?

In Costa Rica in the most education centers the community work is a requirement for graduation students, because it’s in law and it’s a correct way to help the society.

I think if that didn’t be in this way, many students wouldn't have the initiative to devote their efforts to help community groups.

Community work should be voluntary and constant, however many people don’t dedicate their effort to help other people, unless family or friends are involved with a group like this.

I think helping others is a moral obligation as human who must live in society, because there will always be people who have more resources than others, not by lack of initiative or work, but by life and family don’t have provided them with equal opportunities or because their life had an unexpected twist or hard situation which requires to quit own dreams for help other people.

Community work as a graduation requirement allows leave a legacy in the community, apart from pave way for other forms of aid, to meet community needs, to open doors for people who don’t know many ways of helping other people and their organizations, and work permanently in them.

For all are aware of community needs, community work is essential however universities take this kind of requirement as an economical profit.
